From A Single Truck To A Texas Legacy
Three decades of building the Rio Grande Valley. What started as one man with hand tools and a promise has grown into one of the most trusted general contracting firms in Texas — without losing the values that started it all.
Miguel Guerrero Built His First Driveway In 1992
Miguel Guerrero grew up watching his father lay concrete by hand in the South Texas heat. He learned early that a man’s word is his bond — and that a job done right is the only kind worth doing.
With a borrowed truck, a wheelbarrow, and a stack of flyers printed at the local copy shop, Miguel started knocking on doors in the Rio Grande Valley. His first job was a residential driveway for a retired teacher who could not afford the big contractors. He charged her fairly, finished a day early, and she told every neighbor she had.
That is how Guerrero Civil Construction was built — one honest job at a time, one referral at a time, one relationship at a time. Thirty years later, the firm has grown beyond what Miguel ever imagined, but the standard he set on that first driveway has never changed.
“We do not build for awards. We build because someone trusted us with their home.”
Three Decades Of Building
The Beginning
Founder Miguel Guerrero started with a single truck, a set of hand tools, and a commitment to honest work. Operating out of a small garage in the Rio Grande Valley, he took on residential concrete jobs and fence installations for neighbors.
Growing The Crew
Six years of word-of-mouth referrals led to a full-time crew. Guerrero Civil Construction officially incorporated, taking on larger residential remodels and the first commercial contracts in McAllen and Edinburg.
Commercial Expansion
Demand from local businesses pushed the firm into commercial construction. Office build-outs, retail centers, and warehouse projects became a core part of operations, requiring a second crew and dedicated project managers.
Government Contracts
After years of building trust, Guerrero earned its first municipal contracts. Work on public facilities, infrastructure, and government buildings across Texas established the firm as a reliable partner for public-sector projects.
Full-Service Firm
Pools, landscaping, hardscaping, and recurring maintenance were added to the service lineup. Guerrero became a true one-stop general contractor, serving residential, commercial, and government clients under one roof.
A Legacy Continues
Now a second-generation family business, Guerrero Civil Construction employs over 80 people and has delivered more than 1,200 projects across Texas. The same values that started in a garage still guide every build today.
